The Workshops

We have 4 stimulating workshops for you, in drama and movement, visual expression, pottery and drumming. All are conducted by experienced artists and teachers, who draw on their expertise to invite and inspire participants to freely express themselves. Promising to be fun and challenging, these workshops can also be of therapeutic and of spiritual value.

It is important to note that no artistic or musical knowledge is required to participate, the focus is on the process of expression and on enjoying the activity for your own benefit.

Visual Expression - by Jeni Caruana

This workshop will show how subconsciously aware we are of lines and marks around us (signatures, writing, drawings), further illustrating how easy it is to make marks which express personality, time and emotion. With the compliment of music, you will be encouraged to draw and paint and transform your feelings into abstract paintings. Each person will be encouraged to experiment with different ways of making marks and patterns without trying to make a ‘picture'. With all this knowledge and information, each individual will be asked to reconnect to the emotion that the Temples inspired in them – and express that on paper

Pottery - by Julie Apap

Making pottery is a very old process. Pots were used as containers for cooking and carrying food and water, essential for sustaining life, as well as for spiritual use. Thus clay was considered important for survival. You will explore ways how to release your feelings and emotions into the clay. Clay can be very therapeutic. Through guided meditation every person will connect to the earth energies, represented in the clay, to make a ‘memory' bowl or statue. This is your 'remembering', your connection to mother earth. This object can be picked up and held and memories recalled at will.

Drama and Movement - by Fiona Hornstein

This session will gently evoke your awareness to your physical experience of the temples. It will give you a chance to explore and enrich your memories through movement and sound. Through a series of fun and invigorating exercises this session will focus around personal free expression, allowing each one of you to discover your own inner nature and your connection to the world around you. Each person will be free to work at his or her own pace without judgement or the need to perform for others.

Drumming - by Renzo Spiteri

Creating music with drums is an active form of meditation. This workshop will introduce you to basic drum patterns and rhythms. Repetitive drumming changes brain wave activity, inducing a state of calm and focused awareness. This session will help you express yourself freely in a drumming circle, providing an outlet for emotional release and allowing each person to tap into very strong personal spiritual connections. The beauty of circle playing lies in creating a strong common factor between all the participants.
